Norwest Minerals takes to the air...

  • SkyTEM survey to cover entire Marymia East tenure in 200m spaced lines
  • Two core targets in focus; gold over the Baumgartens Greenstone Belt and base metals at the Jenkins fault
  • Survey expected to take up to a week, with results to be processed by Southern Geoscience Consultants

Special Report: A helicopter with a SkyTEM rig is flying survey lines over the Marymia East project in WA, creating a detailed map of geological controls within the tenure.

Norwest Minerals (ASX:NWM) will use the information from the survey to plan a phase 2 reverse circulation drilling program, targeting gold mineralisation within the Baumgartens Greenstone Belt (BGB).

Results will also give NWM a better understanding of the base metal mineralisation identified over the Jenkins lead-zinc fault in the project’s northern tenure.

The survey, flown over 200m spaced lines, will take between 5-7 days with results to be interpreted by contractor Southern Geoscience Consultants.

Prolific mineralised corridor

Marymia East sits within a regionally defined northeast trending mineralised corridor, home to several copper discoveries.

Sandfire Resources’ (ASX:SFR) DeGrussa copper-gold mine, host to a resource of 13.4Mt at 4.7% copper and 1.9 g/t gold, sits just 55km southwest of Marymia East.

Between Degrussa and Marymia East sit three more copper prospects – Enigma, Green Dragon and Thaduna.

Norwest believes the SkyTEM survey will be an effective tool to define structural controls on gold mineralisation and identify any base metal electromagnetic conductors regardless of depth.

The data will give the company insight into the boundaries between rock units, the positioning of faults, shear zones or other conduit structures and highlight any ore bodies or conductors under overburden cover.
